I speak the following not in jest, not in sarcasm, but as a warning:

If a man now rapes and murders a woman, young girl, or child, has his defense now become, “My testosterone levels were out of control”? That’s actually a step up from “I didn’t understand the culture.”

Don’t bother answering, as we all know the response.

And yet another: “Where are the congressional calls to outlaw exercise straps, as they have now been proven to be lethal weapons?”

And worth considering: Has the Lindsay Clancy case finally opened the door for “post-birth abortion?” How, pray tell, are her actions any more heinous than stabbing a pre-born child in the heart with a lethal poison to end his life?

The act of sending one’s husband on an errand before taking their children to the basement to strangle them and the act of loading up a syringe with potassium chloride before inserting it into a beating heart both end in the death of a human being, and both are clear examples of premeditation. In this case, premeditation to kill by one person who was created to bring life into the world, and the other a person who swore an oath to “do no harm.”

There was a day when “I was sad” was not a defense for committing murder.

There was a day in America when we did not assassinate, or celebrate the assassination of a person who had different opinions than our own.

There was a day in our country when we managed to agree to disagree and without resorting to slander, smear, personal denigration, or, in fact… murdering each other. There was a day when polite conversation and civil debate were treasured qualities among men.

If we continue down this path, we will finally disprove everything Darwin declared by demonstrating that we did not descend from animals . . . but we may, in fact, be becoming animals.
